Honouring Ebb and Flow in The Great Magic...a re-post

Life is a beautiful experience
a gift
full of wonder and magic
there was a time when
these words would not have been my own
I was unable to see past the darkness
that surrounded me
no longer is that so...
I believe in the ebb and flow
that Life offers
I believe that it is
  the Deep Essence of Life
you cannot have one
without the other
and when one is brave enough
to willing embrace the darkness
the light shines even brighter
and the Deep Magic comes to life
that is The Gift
to those who venture deep...
The Ebb

In uncertainty I walk
the pushing
the pulling
taking it's toll
finding my voice
when lips have been stitched shut
not by Spirit
but by man
treated like a wound

that needs tending to
for fear of power and strength
that would come forth
slowly I cut the threads
I loosen the shackles
realizing I hold the key
a time of darkness is here
I cannot see where this path leads
I call out
Where are you Spiritual Guides?
Where are you Lover of my Soul?
they answer...
"We are here
I AM
here
You must Trust
use that which you have been given
do not wait idly
all you need you have
within you
remember
and
believe"
And so I continue to walk
staff in hand
into a land unknown
it is barren and lonely
it would appear
nothing here grows
I pour into it
only emptiness comes back
I lay my love down
and the cracked earth
sucks it dry
the winds strain my roots
trying to force me down
it draws me in only to
spit me out
but I remain
warrior

maiden
warrior mother
warrior crone
I will not be shaken
I will not be moved
I will not be afraid

The Flow

Within your Valley of Peace
I am held
cared for
loved
chosen

Songs fill the trees
As the Sun filters thru
Dancing leaves upon my page
as the breeze tickles the branches
Golden Light
Transparent Greens
Beauty beyond measure
A babbling brook
Life water it gives

not a care in the world
no worry

no strife
It continues
No beginning
No end
and yet
sure of it's direction

A stillness is found
in such Valleys
the gift of peace
the gift of calm
the gift of knowing

The Deep Magic
is visible here
Felt by those
who choose to see
A Magic
that we are all part of
A Magic deep within
each of us
That comes from the place
from which all things come

It rumbles beneath the Earth
It flies amongst the trees
It lingers in the wind
The beautiful Magic of Life
Here in the Valley
I find You
Lover of my Soul...
Always You
*

Recently I read this quote
which sums up my thoughts beautifully...

"Life is magical, but it doesn't mean it is easy.
If life is too easy, you can't see the magic because ti is not necessary.
The magic comes when you have a brave soul
and are willing to explore deep within.
Magic is a reward for that."
~Seong Yoo Lee
(Buddhist Monk)

I re-posted this because I loved it so much
when I re-read it
it was a year ago when I first posted it
and I love seeing the movement
and growth with in myself
since then...

A blessed weekend I bid you all
my lovelies
I retreat to the land of blessings
a time with family from out of town
enjoying the local flavours
a time of hearts songs and laughter
What do you seek this weekend lovelies?

Confessions of the Deep...(Keeping it Real)

Ashamed and Discussed !
*
this is what I told my husband yesterday morning
through tears
I told him that I was
Ashamed and Discussed
with my body...
I know
pretty heavy
(no pun intended lol)
since my Sister of Light Retreat
last Sept.
I have put my focus on my spiritual growth.
there has been no triathlons, no 1/2 marathons
no organized activity.
I have still been running and doing my daily thing
but with no focused training
I have put on a few pounds...
which has secretly bothered me...
thus the freak out yesterday morning...
well kinda
 really
honestly
my body
the extra pounds
wasn't the deep reason for my feeling
of such distraught
it just seems to be the place I go
when things weigh on me....
there is that reference again
coincidence?

yes
I am not loving the extra "belly jelly"
but that can be handled
and will...
at some point
and I am more than my body,
but what was really beyond that
was a young man
who woke me up at 1:30am

the one who was three sheets to the wind
yup
a few too many
the one who
as soon as I opened the door
asked me if I loved him
asked me if I though he was a fuck up
confided in me how afraid he was about this next stage
how he had no idea what he was doing
how he himself felt he was a fuck up
the one who held on to me for dear life
needing his mothers assurance

and as my boy cried at the kitchen table
apologizing over and over
telling me to go back to bed...
I made him a bagel
listen to his slurred words
felt his pain
felt his fears
felt his uncertainty
I felt his loss
as he spoke of his Dida who past away suddenly
a few months ago
I felt his truth
felt his heart
felt his soul

the "freak out" was a reflection of me trying to sort
through all that had transpired
thank God for an understanding husband
though my feeling about my body has some truth
there were bigger things at play
Do you do this?
Do you sometimes deflect what really is the challenge
with those smaller challenges that are closer to the surface?
*
I had a good cry in my husbands arms
the mother in me felt the sadness
I needed to find the silent warrior within...

and as always is
a blessing awaited
in which again I could find my footing

a photo shoot
taking place in my "church"
*these photos I post today
were part of the shoot

even as I drove to the location
I was uneasy,
unsure of my ability even
but as I got closer
as Mother Earth opened up to me
and invited me in
with her open arms
I felt my legs firm
I felt my roots go deep
I shook my branches
and remembered
the Yin and Yang of all experiences.

I felt the ribbons loosen within me
felt my worries fall away
this is life
and as unsure as I am at times
I am the perfect mother for my man-child
we were perfectly matched
he has what I need
and I have what he needs
yes I could have been angry about the drinking
but again
that is the surface thing
easy to address
easy to be distracted by
but again
I choose to go deeper
really hear him
really see him

the day unraveled
and became lighter as it went on
there was chance to talk further
and a chance to give loving support....
*
and today
well today is a glorious day
filled with blessing and possibility
when I am done here
I will pack an overnight bag
as I meet up with my Moon Sisters
for some time in a cottage
by the ocean
the sun is shining
my children are happy
my husband content
*
Whats the point of sharing all this?
well
as I told a friend this week
we have choices
we have choices about how we see things
that there is no such thing as a dead end...
there is always a way out
that each moment brings with it
a new reality
that pain, sadness, and emotions in general
are a part of this human experience
but they can't stop the Light from shining in
even for a moment

the Ebb and Flow
are constantly around us
ever consistent
ever faithful
we can take comfort in that
*
So back to my question

Do you do this?
Do you sometimes deflect what really is the challenge
with those smaller challenges that are closer to the surface?
I would really like to know
if this resonates with you
or if I am alone on this.
*Thank you my Lovelies*
happy weekend to you all

Keeping it Real...

Keeping it Real with the lovely

Every Friday
Monica invites her readers to
"Share your own ups-downs, lows-highs, hits-misses, dark-light,
peaks-valleys, plus-minuses,
as we keep the blogosphere real."

The Ebb and The Flow

this past week these two entities have intertwined
such a thin delicate thread separated them
it was difficult to tell them apart
*
a week of commune as friends stayed with us
as there new home underwent renovations
they brought the pitter patter of little feet
 a little girl voice
sweet smiles and shy looks
and I was reminded, once again,
 of how
though I love the solitude
I equally love and embrace a full house
a reminder of a life gone by
a childhood home full of noise and activity
an open door where visitors and lodgers where welcome
were ebb and flow lived out loud
*
a day with a soul sister did my heart good
speaking of deep things
life and death
communications with God
hopes & dreams
laughter & tears
personal reflections
wine down by the river
a visit to a most peculiar village
(more images found here)
and the freedom to express with no thought of judgment
as the ebb and flow danced in the grass
and sparkled in the sun
*
bear cubs in the trees
there has been a mama living in the ravine with her 3 cubs
for the most part they have kept
to themselves
but as the cubs grew
so did their perimeter
so when they all found themselves
trapped up a tree
by a busy road side
precautions had to be taken
for the wild and civilization
have their own unique version
of ebb and flow...
a delicate dance
between the two
(they were tranquilized and moved to a safer location in the mountians)
*
more work was done on my tattoo
(before)

(after)
colour and snowflakes
will be put in  sometime in August
it was another 3 hours of being under the needle
this was a moving session
I went into a deep meditative state
this tattoo is changing me
growing me
I am unable to put to words
at this time
what it all means to me...
the ebb takes me
as the flow leads the way
*

I have found myself in a deep place of spiritual reflections
a deep contentment in the path I am on
Gods hands unfolding truths within
as I watch in wonderment
embracing this time of break
break from school
break from the norm
break from schedule
this is quiet now in this space
as I enjoy the month to come

we are parking our little travel trailer
for the month
by a creek in the forest
right off the beaten path
we will be commuting back and forth
working
while we enjoy the presence of summer
I look forward to this time with my youngest
and letting the summer sun warm my bones
and freckle my body
*
something awaits me there
I am not sure what
perhaps the completion of my book
perhaps the birth of something new
perhaps more unveiling of my life purpose
whatever it is
the flow carries me
and I feel a deep peace
within
*
I end with this quote
posted by a dear soul
and sister-friend
Amy

"Come, come, whoever you are.
Wanderer, worshipper, lover of living, it doesn’t matter
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come even if you have broken your vow a thousand times,
Come, yet again, come, come."

~ Rumi and His Sufi Path of Love

Indeed
"Ours is not a caravan of despair"
Ours,
my Lovelies,
is the caravan of Life
